Lori Delgado says she quit her anchor's job at NBC10 last month because she feared for her safety and that of her husband after her former coanchor Vince DeMentri had acted threateningly toward them, according to documents filed yesterday in Common Pleas Court.

The filing included documents from DeMentri in which he described a 2 1/2-year relationship with Delgado as "consensual, mutual romantic affiliation." She did not address that assertion.

Delgado's statement came in her response to a court filing by DeMentri, who is contesting his firing in late July in what is expected to be a libel and slander action against NBC10.

In addition, DeMentri's attorney, Paul Rosen of Spector Gadon Rosen, contends that NBC10 and Delgado interfered with DeMentri's contract.

Asked about Delgado's safety concerns,DeMentri said last night: "This is nothing but a smokescreen. What is alleged is laughable and an outright lie."

In July, DeMentri filed a gender-discrimination complaint with the state Human Relations Commission. In it, he alleges that he was fired because the station had learned that he and Delgado had an affair.

DeMentri said in the HRC complaint that NBC10 unfairly fired him while not sanctioning Delgado. DeMentri also alleges that the station leaked false information about him to the media.

DeMentri, 44, worked at NBC10 for five years and coanchored its myphl newscast on Channel 17 with Delgado from December 2005 through September 2006. Delgado, 28, who started at the station in January 2005, most recently anchored the morning news on NBC10. She was last seen on the air Sept. 26.

DeMentri's HRC complaint says that someone at the station leaked an item to an unnamed gossip Web site. The Aug. 22 item linked DeMentri to acts of vandalism against Delgado, including the keying of her car in June.

The HRC complaint says that DeMentri and Delgado's affair ended in May, and that the two remained friends.

According to Delgado's court response, filed yesterday by Eric Weitz of Weitz Garfinkle Datz, Delgado experienced hang-ups on her home and cell phones in the spring. On June 6, personal items vanished from her office. Three days later, her driver's license and house keys were missing, and Lower Merion police investigated.

A few weeks later, Delgado found a shopping bag containing the items under her desk. Also in June, she discovered that her car had been scratched. NBC10 investigated and began suspecting DeMentri, Weitz's filing says.

Delgado says she was told that DeMentri was seen on videotape "indicating his likely participation in the incidents." Rosen said DeMentri was not shown keying Delgado's car.

On July 3, an NBC security official told police that "criminal mischief" had been done to Delgado's car, according to a police report that listed DeMentri as a suspect. The complaint was investigated July 8 and closed when Delgado refused to cooperate with police.

Rosen said that if police had seen such actions on a tape, Delgado's cooperation would not be required to file charges.

Delgado said in yesterday's filing that although DeMentri had been instructed not to contact her, he confronted her and her husband, Rich McNally, a lawyer, at their home. DeMentri said last night that no one had told him to stay away from her.

Delgado and McNally, who married in June 2006, have since moved to New York.

Attorneys for NBC did not return calls for comment. Regarding the litigation, a station spokeswoman said: "The station disputes Mr. DeMentri's allegations and intends to vigorously defend any claims. The notion that WCAU would trump up baseless charges against its own anchor is ridiculous.

In a new movie, that is.
Hilary Swank has signed to star in The Resident, about a woman who moves into a Brooklyn loft and discovers that her landlord is interested in more than the rent.
What's special about this film is that it's the first new production from Hammer Films in decades. The Brit producer was famed for reinventing the horror genre in the late 1950s, making stars of unknown actors like Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing in classic films like The Horror of Dracula and The Curse of Frankenstein. Hammer also made the iconic 1966 Raquel Welch film One Million Years, B.C. If you're old enough, you remember the fur bikini.
The Resident begins shooting in May.

![CDATA[HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA eMediaWorld - Dec. 3, 2008) - Corridor Resources Inc. (TSX:CDH) reported today that it has made a potentially significant oil discovery at its South Branch G-36 well situated 3 kilometers southeast of the McCully natural gas field in southern New Brunswick. The G-36 well penetrated a thick sequence of Hiram Brook sands containing indeterminate fluid content based on well logs prior to being drilled to a total depth of 2642 meters, nearly 500 meters into the underlying Frederick Brook shale. The well has been cased and two frac stimulation treatments have been carried out over two intervals within the Hiram Brook formation. The first frac, conducted over 10 meters of potentially gas bearing sands within the depth interval 1757 - 1840.5 meters in the lower Hiram Brook formation, yielded a show of oil and no measurable amounts of gas and is considered to be tight.

A Small axe Job - The Quotidian WTF

  • Dec. 4th, 2008 at 10:52 PM
Fresh out of school, Maxim was able to score himself a pretty sweet entry level position in a small private bank. Rather thanbeing responsible for maintaining the company's static phone bookon thecorporate intranetor some other stereotypical entry level thing, he was placed in the understaffed Publications department to do some surprisingly heavy impacting IT work.
The department's job was to produce and distribute various financial reports including the most important one of all - the Recommendation List. This list was considered mission critical for the bank as it contained the official recommendations of what stocks and bonds to buy or sell and was sent out to managers and customers alike. A bad recommendation could make or break the financial managers, not to mention the customers whom invested their money with the bank, who made decisions based on this information.

Boxer Scrapbooks Design Team: Birthday Card

  • Dec. 4th, 2008 at 11:12 PM

Now all you have to do is cut out the outer and inner circles and you have a cool open-circle design to stitch and use on a card or layout. My finished project is below. To make it come together smoothly, I lightly taped my circle to the card in two small places, then pierced the holes through the card so I could stitch through everything. That makes it look flatter; if you want it to stand up a little higher, stitch first, then adhere the stitched circle to the project. Before stitching, I laid my ribbon down (note that one side is under and one side is over the circle) and taped it lightly in place on the back side. Then I stitched, bowed, and layered. A little edge-inking would've made the layers stand out even more than they do now, but I think this gives you a good idea of the technique.
Enjoy.

Well my wife and I recently opted to sign up for a buyer's agent for our home search. My wife wanted to use a full service agent, but she eventually agreed to "try out" a buyer's agent that offered a rebate.
My wife felt that a full service agent would be able to guide us to the right house, after all we currently have high expectations and realize there need to be some tradeoffs if we are going to stay within or at least close to our price range. She also has already gotten sick of search for sale listings online and wants someone to weed out canidates for us. She knows a discount agent will do nothing more than open the doors for us and pull information out of the MLS at our request.
I felt strongly that we should use a buyer's agent with a rebate. I felt like regardless of whether we used a full service agent or a discount one we would still be searching the for sale listings and struggle to find a house in the area we are looking. While a full service broker might help us find what we are looking for a little easier, that extra assistance isn't worth a rough ~$5,000 rebate from the buyer's agent on a $300k house.
If we don't find anything in the next couple months think we will need to reconsider our decision to "try out" a discount buyer's agent.
