Buying or Selling a Home at Christmas Time

and  enjoying what may prove to be only a temporary drop in gas prices.
Regardless of where gas prices are a week, a month or a year from now, you may still have your mind set on exploring other transportation options besides trading in your sport/utility vehicle for one of those new-fangled hybrid models. Beyond that, other ways to save involve using mass transit with mixed results for some people. If you live near a major metropolitan area, then your options are good, if not good luck with that!
So what are your options? Think bus and train to begin with but also consider plane and ship. Yes, there are even carpooling or ride share options available for the person who wants to try something different. Read on for some tips on how you can share your ride whether on highway, rail, water or in the sky.
Amtrak – Moving by rail has fallen in disfavor over the years, but for people living in or near densely populated areas of the country, getting from one city to another one by train remains a good option for them. Fares vary, but specials and booking information is posted to the website at www.amtrak.com
Greyhound – Greyhound (greyhound.com) is the dominant bus company across the US, with lots of local, regional even government run operations in existence. New operators are Megabus (megabus.com) and Boltbus (boltbus.com) with the latter offering fares as low as $10 from NYC to Philadelphia.
Flying – Airfare wars seem to be a thing of the past, but dont let that stop you from seeking out some very special deals. Best bets are low cost carriers such as Southwest (southwest.com) plus some of the regional operators including Mesa Airlines (mesa-air.com). Check sites such as Priceline.com, Travelocity.com and Expedia.com for specials, but always check the airline sites directly for the lowest fares.
Boat – Youre planning to travel to Europe anyway, so why not take a slow boat (or ship)? If time isnt an issue and rest and relaxation is, cruising remains a very popular way for people to get away, and is even affordable if you book through some of the sites mentioned under Flying.
Share a Ride – If you dont mind riding with one or more strangers, then why not go to your final destination together? ErideShare (erideshare.com) and sites like it help commuters and travelers to hook up, providing an affordable and convenient way for people to get from one point to another one.
Besides saving gas, using alternative forms of transportation can extend the life of your vehicle and stretch the time between oil changes, tune ups, and other car maintenance tasks. Shop around for the best deals and you can turn your next excursion into a budget preserver.
Adv. — If you are looking for discount travel deals, why not visit nBuy.com to help you begin your research into leisure oriented savings.

Free Printable Calendar : Mr

  • Dec. 10th, 2008 at 11:23 PM
Why drop money at an office store for a new calendar, when you can design and print your own? Savetz Publishing has a very easy-to-use site where you can download 2009 and 2010 calendars in your choice of PDF or Word format. In Word, you can easily add borders, photos, art, change the fonts, etc. You can do those things with a PDF as well, but youd need a full version of Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop, or some other program that can edit PDF files.
This is a great idea to save the several dollars you might spend on calendars at an office store, and you can customize them to your taste. You have your choice of page-per-month, all-on-one-page, and wallet size printable formats too
Mark writes:
This could be a gift idea for christmas, by downloading the calendar, add family pictures and then just laminate it at Kinkos or your nearest Copy Center. Its better than buying a $12 calendar at Barnes and Nobles or your nearest bookstore. I have calendars around the house but never use them. I usually remember things in my head, if they arent important, then I dont remember them.
