  • Aug. 11th, 2008 at 11:40 AM
One of the four men accused of causing the shooting death of a three year old was arraigned today at the hidalgo county sheriffs detention facility.
21-year-old Dimas Daniel Zamora was arraigned today for the charge of capital murder. It is alleged that Zamora along with three Mexican nationals attempted to assassinate Amador Garabay on the night of July 29th in retaliation for bonding out one of their enemies. They ambushed Garabay and his family who traveled in a yellow Volkswagen beetle just north of the intersection of Owasso and sugar and opened fire. Traveling in the beetle were Amador Garabay, his wife and two daughters. Sheriff Lupe TreviƱo tells Fox 2 news that instead of ducking for cover, three year old Yaritza Garabay tragically attempted to see what was occurring. In the process she was mortally wounded. The suspect vehicle and two guns have since been recovered.
On Wednesday the hidalgo county sheriffs office requested the help of u.s. marshals in locating Zamora who had fled to Mexico. On Thursday, the marshals working together with the FBI and Mexican police authorities succeeded in his capture at a Reynosa bus stop. Zamora was promptly turned over to the hidalgo county sheriffs office homicide investigators. For the charge of capital murder, Dimas Zamora faces death. His bond has been set at one million dollars.
It is expected that three more arrests will be made in the near future in connection with this case.
Authorities are asking for the communitys help in detaining one of the three remaining suspects. Wanted in connection with the shooting death of three-year-old Yaritza Garabay.
Favio Jesus Chipres Torres, a Mexican national is believed to be one of the shooters involved in this case.
He is also the owner of the white ford Taurus used as a getaway vehicle. Authorities believe that he has fled to Mexico.
